The darkness of water book summary
Dark Brooding MysteriousI found The Darkness of Water a darkly odd but entertaining read The story poses many questions about fate the nature of evil sanity purpose the power of love Rather than answer definitively the narrative only hints at its meaning revealed like the shadows cast by an unseen truth Interesting and definitely worth a read 216 Reviewed by Marcia Dove author of Fatal Field TripA dark mysterious read James and Elena come together under strange circumstances in a beautiful isolated area in Alaska Each with secrets they are initially unable to share reminders of their personal shortcomings Hiding from past tragedies they can t move forward in a relationship they both seem to want James is living in a home that appears to be abandoned Elena searches for the owners identities and uncovers journals documenting the unhappy existence of the recent occupants George and Anna The clairvoyant Anna is fixated on their only neighbor fearful about the safety of her husband George and herself Ultimately they confront their evil neighbor who leaves them with the choice that one of them has to die Who will it be 216 Reality is relativeWhat is real for one person is not necessarily real for another And when people see things that are different from what they think is reality it can be very frightening I particularly liked the idea that reality is perception or that you can create your own reality I believe this is true You can be alive or dead the world around you can be beautiful or ugly or terrifying depending on how you see it It s also true that if a situation changes or new knowledge comes to light our perception of reality changes So there s that sense that we re living in a bit of a dream an interesting but very sad idea.
